Leon Bailey is ready to make a difference for Olympiacos after an impressive display against Marko, with the winger finding confidence and form.
A Greek Cup match against a lower-division team is not enough to draw many conclusions about Olympiacos. It certainly counts that the Red-and-Whites kept their streak going and that Imanol Alguacil gave more squad players a chance to play.
However, shortly before the 75th minute, the Basque coach saw Leon Bailey display his undeniable quality on the pitch with an impressive dribble between the Marko players. A move that may not have led to a goal or an assist, but it says a lot about the situation the Jamaican is in.
Mainly in terms of his self-confidence, he has trained regularly for several days and even scored his first goal on Sunday against Kalamata, but above all, at the psychological level. The experienced winger has clearly adapted, and he now seems comfortable on the field and confident in himself.
"Bailey has integrated very well into Greece and is enjoying a good life with his wife and two children. Throughout his stay in our country, he trains and works hard to stay in optimal condition so he can help Imanol and Olympiacos," Sport24 analyzed.
At the same time, Bailey has built an excellent relationship with his teammates, which of course reflects the team's positive atmosphere.
In addition to scoring against Kalamata, he also featured in the magnificent move that led to Marius' goal, which was disallowed for offside; against Marko, he showed that he is ready to contribute a lot to the team.
Olympiacos has important matches ahead in Greece and Europe: away against Kifisia and Rennes, then at home against PAOK, Iraklis, and Milan. Therefore, Imanol will need Bailey's quality, as he seems ready to make the difference on the wings.
In other news, transfer news specifically: Olympiacos is interested in Sabah defender Steve Solvet, according to L'Equipe. The 30-year-old center-back, from Guadeloupe (1.91 m), plays for the Azerbaijani team, which is participating in the Champions League for the first time in its history.
His contract expires in 2027, meaning that from January he can sign for any other team with a view to next summer. Sabah are trying to reach an agreement with him, and L'Equipe is currently linking him to the Red-and-White team.
According to the French publication, Olympiacos and Saudi Arabian club Al-Khalij have been trying to sign Solvet since January, seeking an agreement.
Solvet has played for Sabah since 2025, after spending time in Strasbourg and Dijon's youth ranks. He made the jump to the Azerbaijan national team and has featured in both Champions League matches.
