According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio via TransferFeed, Olympiacos have sent an official offer to Genoa to secure the services of Morten Frendrup this summer.

The Red and Whites' initial bid is expected to be much lower than what the Serie A side has been asking for the Danish midfielder. Genoa have set a price tag of 14-15 million euros for Frendrup, but the club is believed to bag at least 10 million euros from his sale.

We at Olympiacos Roundtable, in an earlier report, revealed Thrylos' growing interest in landing a reliable midfield reinforcement this summer, and the option of signing Frendrup. After Cristian Casseres Jr. rejected a move to the Greek giants, Gustavo Puerta's choice to join Benfica, and a cold track for the potential transfer of Sporting CP's Daniel Braganca, Olympiacos finally want to invest its resources in Frendrup, who can provide them with a necessary profile under head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar.

While often used as a box-to-box midfielder, Frendrup is known for his high energy in defensive transitions and effective ball distribution capability. He is arguably the best options amongst the club's midfield targets in the summer, although he is expensive. The 25-year-old from Denmark has been a starter for Genoa for a couple of seasons now, and in the last campaign, he featured in 36 Serie A matches, scoring once.

Following initial stints with local club Tuse IF and Holbaek B&I in his country, Frendrup signed for the youth ranks of Brondby IF. At the age of 16, he made his senior team debut for the Danish outfit and spent four seasons there. In the winter transfer window of 2022, he signed for Genoa on a reported €3.5 million deal. He has been ever consistent in leading the defensive midfield charts since joining the Italian side, recording impressive stats in balls won and successful tackles in the region in front of the defence.

Elsewhere, Olympiacos have eyed a possibility to land the signature of Fiorentina right-back Dodo. The Piraeus-based outfit is expected to have sent an offer of €10 million to the Viola, and are yet to receive a response. The development came as a surprise, especially after the recent signing of Marcus Holmgren Pedersen from Torino.

Club president Evangelos Marinakis has claimed that he wants Olympiacos to reach the Europa League final, while undergoing a successful domestic campaign. With just days to go in the summer transfer window, he is pulling all the strings to help Mendilibar lead the charge for the upcoming triumphs of the club.
