Olympiacos is at the center of a $12M transfer domino with Brighton and Levadiakos. Costinha heads to the Premier League as Thrylos targets Triantafyllos Tsapras as a replacement.
Brighton & Hove Albion will sign one of the best defenders in the Greek Super League at the expense of Olympiacos. This move will cause a domino effect with the Greek giant as the protagonist.
According to reports, the Premier League side has already secured the signing of right-back Costinha. Thrylos will announce the departure of the 26-year-old Portuguese sooner rather than later.
"Costinha's transfer to Brighton has been completed, and Olympiacos will announce the sale of the player in the coming days," the Greek outlet Athletiko reported on Saturday.
"The Red and White club got good money from this move, as they will put a little more than 11 million euros (around $12 million) in their coffers! A pretty good amount for the Piraeus team, which they are getting from a player they had acquired for much less money," added journalist Dionysis Verveles in the cited outlet.
This move will cause a domino effect that could leave Levadiakos without one of its best players for the 2025-26 season.
According to the same report, Olympiacos has identified Triantafyllos Tsapras as its main target to reinforce its right-back position. It must be considered that for head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar, the other option in that position, Rodinei, is more of a winger. Additionally, it appears that the 34-year-old Brazilian has asked to leave, as he intends to return to his home country.
Tsapras, 24, with an estimated market value of $1.3 million according to Transfermarkt, has a contract with the Livadia team that extends until June 2030, so Thrylos will have to present an offer that convinces its rival club.
There is a factor that greatly attracts Olympiacos ' attention, in addition to the player's sporting performance: his nationality. Mendilibar's team lacks many Greek players, and it is an important factor for the club.
The same report indicates that talks have already taken place between Levadiakos and Thrylos, and although the first club cited has high financial demands, Olympiacos has not backed down, because they are convinced that the player is a real solution for their defense.
"There have been discussions with Levadiakos, who does not have small financial requirements, but Olympiacos has not backed down. Because the Red and White club believes that he can meet their requirements," Verveles wrote.
Additionally, the report notes that Marios Vichos, Levadiakos' left back, is also of interest to Olympiacos. Although the latter is not a priority, he is part of the list of local players who please the sporting department.
