Olympiacos are manoeuvring to secure Fenerbahce's Dominik Livakovic as Konstantinos Tzolakis nears an exit, though a potential late hijack from Crystal Palace remains a threat.
Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic is linked with a transfer to Olympiacos this summer as Crystal Palace interest looms.
According to reports by Croatian sources via Gazzetta.gr, Dominik Livakovic is increasingly getting closer to joining Olympiacos in the next few days. The Piraeus-based outfit's interest in the 31-year-old has been on and off through the years, but finally, it seems like a transfer is on the cards.
The Croatian goalkeeper is set to leave Turkish giants Fenerbahce, with whom he has a contract until the summer of 2028. He was expected to sign with Dinamo Zagreb after spending the second half of last season on loan with his former side. However, such reports are slowly losing momentum as Olympiacos have emerged as a strong contender due to the potential departure of first-choice goalie Konstantinos Tzolakis.
A 20 million euros deal with newly promoted Premier League club Hull City is currently stalled due to bureaucratic delays and a gap between the Greek side's demands and the English outfit's offer, per an earlier report by Roundtable.
The Red and Whites are open to paying 4 to 5 million euros as transfer fees for Livakovic, as demanded by Fenerbahce, but they will rethink if the figure increases or his current club asks for bonuses. As things stand, he could join Thrylos next week, considering there is an absence of active competition for the player.
What Olympiacos will be keeping an eye on is a possible intervention from the English top flight. As updated by TransferFeed earlier this month, Livakovic's agent Andy Bara has been discussing with several European clubs his client's transfer ahead of the new season. Crystal Palace appeared as a top competitor with the most serious offers at that point to lure the Croatian goalkeeper to their club. The interest cooled down after a few days, but it could once again come up if Olympiacos decide to send an official offer to Fenerbahce or agree on personal terms with the Zadar-born man.
Meanwhile, in other news, the Red and Whites gained a transfer boost with another player on their goalkeeping wish list. Fabrizio Romano quashed reports linking San Lorenzo and Paraguayan star Orlando Gill with Manchester United. It was initially said that the Red Devils were in talks with the Argentina Primera Division club to sort out his signing, but they were later rendered a hoax, as reported by Roundtable.
