Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva is set to join Olympiacos on loan, with the official announcement expected on Thursday. The Portuguese player will link up with Jose Luis Mendilibar's squad.

Nottingham Forest F.C. is about to finalize the departure of 26-year-old Portuguese winger Jota Silva, who will join Olympiacos F.C. on loan, according to reports.

According to Sport24.Gr, Silva should have already been announced as the Greek club's new signing, but his lawyer's travel was delayed, and apparently, everything will be finalized this Thursday.

"Finally, Jota Silva is officially dressed in the Red and White, albeit with a slight… bureaucratic delay," Nikos Kotsis wrote in his transfer roundup.

"The official announcement of the transfer took a little longer, as the Portuguese midfielder's lawyer arrived late at night for the signing process and the final check of the contracts."

Kotsis clarified that everything is a matter of time and only a formal procedure. After signing his contract, Silva is expected to join the Olympiacos squad immediately to continue preseason.

"Everything, however, is a formal procedure. The official announcement by Olympiacos FC regarding the acquisition of Jota Silva, as well as his first training session under the guidance of Jose Luis Mendilibar, is expected to take place on Thursday."

According to the cited outlet, Silva openly expressed his desire to go to Olympiacos. The Greek club did not have to perform any gymnastics to persuade Forest, as the two teams are owned by the Marinakis Football Group (Evangelos Marinakis).

Thrylos' new director of football, Antonio Miguel Cardoso, was welcomed by the team in their preseason camp in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. After his appointment, the signing of Silva became one of his priorities.

This represents an important development for Olympiacos’ attacking players, as the future of Brazilian winger Andre Luiz remains uncertain.

Luiz has reportedly attracted interest from several clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanderers.

On the right wing, Olympiacos’ current options are both experienced veterans: Gelson Martins, 31, and Brazilian full-back Rodinei, who is now 34.

Earlier this summer, the club also brought back Konstantinos Fortounis after his two-year spell in Saudi Arabia, while Giorgos Masouras returned from his loan with the same club. On the other hand, Daniel Podence has gone back to Al Shabab following his loan spell in Greece.

Olympiacos are also said to be closing in on the signing of Girona winger Joel Roca, so significant changes are expected in the attacking department.

Update (01:00 a.m. PT): It’s now official!
