Angel Reese’s Met Gala-Inspired Sneaker Signals Her Next Power Move cover image

Reebok drops a fresh "Gala Green" sneaker, inspired by Angel Reese's Met Gala style, merging fashion and performance for the WNBA star.

Angel Reese has never waited for permission to be herself, and the sneaker world is taking notice.

In a league where marketability often follows championships, Reese has flipped the formula. The Chicago Sky forward is still in the early stages of her WNBA career, yet she has already carved out one of the most distinct off-court identities in the sport. Whether through her unapologetic confidence, her willingness to embrace the spotlight or her presence at high-profile cultural events, Reese has leaned fully into the persona that made her a household name long before she turned pro.

Now, that brand is expanding again.

Reebok is preparing to release a new Angel Reese 1 colorway inspired by her Met Gala appearance, with the “Gala Green” edition expected to drop this summer. The release marks another step in the evolution of Reese’s signature line and further solidifies her status as one of the WNBA’s most marketable young stars.

Reese, nicknamed “Bayou Barbie,” originally signed with Reebok in 2023 in one of the most notable NIL deals in women’s basketball at the time. Fresh off a dominant run at LSU, she entered the professional ranks with significant momentum, and Reebok moved early to align itself with her star power before she ever played a WNBA game.

That investment has only deepened. Following a strong rookie campaign with the Sky, Reese agreed to a multi-year extension with the brand, signaling Reebok’s belief not only in her basketball trajectory but in her cultural relevance. The company positioned her as more than an athlete — as a crossover figure capable of influencing fashion, music and lifestyle spaces.

Her signature sneaker debuted in September 2025, and since then, Reebok has steadily rolled out additional colorways and updates. The upcoming “Gala Green” edition draws direct inspiration from the mint-green ensemble Reese wore at the 2024 Met Gala, translating that monochromatic look into a performance silhouette.

The sneaker is expected to retail for $130 and features visible ERS cushioning through the midsole, blending style cues from her red-carpet moment with on-court functionality. The design leans into the same bold aesthetic Reese embraces publicly — clean, confident and unmistakable.

For Reese, the collaboration reflects how seamlessly she has merged performance and personality. Few players so early in their professional careers command this level of brand backing. Her social media reach, fashion influence and outspoken demeanor have broadened her appeal beyond traditional basketball audiences.

Still, marketability alone will not define the next phase of her career.

As Reese continues to build her platform, sustained success with the Sky will ultimately determine how high her influence climbs. Translating individual momentum into consistent team impact remains the natural next step. The visibility is there. The endorsement support is clear. The question now is whether the on-court results will rise in tandem with the off-court spotlight.

If they do, Reese’s signature line may become just one piece of a much larger legacy.
