Tulane Lands FCS Freshman All-American Center in Transfer Portal cover image

The Tulane Green Wave made their first signing from the transfer portal.

The Tulane Green Wave have many positions on their offensive line to replace, with center being one of them. They have John Bock returning for the 2026 season, who could compete there as well as right guard where he was looking to start before a preseason injury. On the second day of the transfer portal being open, the Green Wave made their first splash.

As first reported by Pete Nakos and seemingly confirmed by the player via a quote tweet on X, FCS Freshman All-American center Gavin Marks is transferring to Tulane from Mercer. The true freshman started 10 games last season and didn’t concede a sack. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound offensive lineman may compete to start at center for the Green Wave next season. They need to replace Jack Hollifield at center, who transferred in last year for his final season of eligibility. That position will be as essential as finding the team’s next starting quarterback.

They will also need to replace graduating seniors Derrick Graham at left guard and Jordan Hall at right guard, while left guard Shadre Hurst is entering the transfer portal. Right tackle Reese Baker recently announced he is returning for Tulane in 2026. In addition, backup guard Elijah Baker announced his return as well, and he could possibly compete to replace Hurst, who he started in place for when Hurst slotted in at left tackle in the team’s September loss to Ole Miss. The Green Wave have many positions to build back, but the offense will start and end with the offensive line.
