Audi Revolut Formula One team is based in Hinwil, Switzerland and Neuburg an der Donau, Germany and the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps is the closest track to the factory, making it something the team considers a home race.
No Place Like Home
Home races are very important in Formula One, being celebrated by teams and drivers throughout the weekend, and usually being honored in some way.
Most teams celebrate the team’s home race by bringing out lots of staff to the track to experience the thrill of the race weekend live and all together.
As there are many teammates at the factory who don’t travel with the team like a pit mechanic does, many people don’t get to experience the F1 races the same way travel staff do.
Workers at the factory spend hours upon hours working behind the scenes to make the team run as it should, from business and legal to engineering and mechanics.
It’s extra special for the whole team to show up and support the drivers as well as getting to firsthand experience what they’ve been working towards.
Bring Out The Staff
The new team followed suit and invited over 500 employees to the Belgian Grand Prix.
A break away from the factory and full of the enjoyment of a race weekend, from on track action across multiple series to DJ sets at the Fanzone.
On Sunday during the drivers parade before the race, driver Gabriel Bortoleto gave a shout out to the team members who made their way out to the track saying “we have a bit over 500 employees from the base, it’s great seeing them all at the grandstand out at turn one“ to which a cheer erupted from the grandstand.
Not only was it easy to distinguish the team from their enthusiasm and cheers but also the team were all in uniform and had been given Audi Revolut Formula One Team flags and large cut outs of the drivers faces, which they carried around all weekend.
Audi Knows How To Party
The celebration didn’t stop at the chequered flag as the team made their way to the Fanzone for a lively evening with Formula One’s DJ Admin and dancing.
It was quite the sight to look out upon hundreds of people in full Audi team gear, jumping up and down, waving the face cut outs and flags all grouped together at a trackside rave.
As it got later in the night, the Audi crowd had to wrap it up and head back to base, and they made their way out in style, creating a conga line of the staff heading from the mosh pit to the exit gate.
The team left with good memories from the weekend, the experience of a Formula One race, and plenty of photos of videos of random individuals they asked to hold up and pose with the cut outs of the driver’s heads.
No one can speak for Audi except themselves, but they seem to be doing the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix weekend correctly, making the most of it all and having a blast trackside.
