The Memorial Tournament heads for a marathon Sunday at Muirfield Village, with J.T. Poston and Ryan Gerard tied at 9 under.
The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village is supposed to be one of the PGA TOUR’s cleanest, toughest Signature Event tests.
Instead, the 50th anniversary edition has turned into a storm-delayed Sunday brawl at Jack Nicklaus’ place.
After the weather halted the third round Saturday in Dublin, Ohio, the tournament will restart early Sunday with J.T. Poston and Ryan Gerard tied for the lead at 9-under through five holes.
The third round is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. ET, and the final round is expected to begin between 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. with threesomes going off both tees.
That’s a long day. That’s also pure chaos potential.
Poston and Gerard enter Sunday with a one-shot edge over Sam Burns, who sits at 8-under.
Eric Cole is still lurking at 6 under, but he’s the only other player within four shots of the lead as the field tries to squeeze two rounds of pressure into one condensed finish.
Fans will have plenty of ways to follow the action. PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ runs from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with multiple streams including the main feed, marquee group coverage, featured groups and a Betcast. Featured-hole coverage will spotlight the par-5 15th and par-3 16th.
Television coverage begins on Golf Channel from 12:30-2:30 p.m. before CBS takes over from 2:30-6 p.m. PGA TOUR Radio will also carry the finish from 1-6 p.m. on SiriusXM and PGATOUR.com/liveaudio.
The leaderboard is tight, the schedule is messy and Muirfield Village is still dangerous.
Sunday at the Memorial won’t be calm. It’ll be survival with a trophy waiting.
