Scottie Scheffler kept his PGA TOUR cut streak alive at Muirfield Village with a gritty Friday finish after flirting with disaster.
Scottie Scheffler’s Memorial Tournament run nearly came apart Friday at Muirfield Village, but the world No. 1 found just enough late magic to keep his PGA TOUR cut streak alive.
Scheffler was 4-over through 10 holes and looked completely out of rhythm after three straight bogeys. Even the reachable par-5 11th didn’t offer relief, as he walked away with only a par while the cut line started closing in fast.

“I felt like I was going to shoot about 90 today,” Scheffler said.
Instead, he somehow turned a potential disaster into another weekend tee time.
Scheffler birdied three of his final eight holes, shot an even-par 71 and extended his TOUR-best made-cut streak to 76 consecutive starts.
Hideki Matsuyama owns the next-longest active streak at 25.
The round wasn’t pretty. Scheffler even shanked a bunker shot at No. 5, and afterward he didn’t try to dress it up.
“That's maybe some of the worst I've hit it in a couple years out there and I still managed to shoot even par around a golf course that requires you to strike the ball really well,” Scheffler said.
The save mattered for more than just the streak. Scheffler is chasing a third straight Memorial title, which would put him alongside Tiger Woods in tournament history.
His rescue job came with clutch putting, including a 22-foot birdie at No. 15 and a 40-footer at No. 16.
“This tournament was one that definitely could have got away from me, but right now I'm only nine shots back and still have a chance going into the weekend,” Scheffler said.

“With the conditions the way they are, you never really know what's going to happen around this golf course and just getting inside the cut line you still have a chance.”
Jordan Spieth, Andrew Novak, Ben Griffin, Robert MacIntyre and Min Woo Lee weren’t as fortunate.
