In a recent appearance on the "Foul Territory" Podcast, Sportnet columnist Shi Davidi confirmed the Blue Jays are having contract extension talks with John Schneider and Mark Shapiro

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off their best season in over three decades.

The Blue Jays won their first American League pennant since 1993 and made it all the way to Game 7 of the World Series before ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Toronto's success was a massive turnaround from where it ended 2024. The Blue Jays were the No. 1 seed in the American League throughout the playoffs after finishing last in the American League East in '24.

The skipper that oversaw that turnaround, John Schneider, is set to earn a significant payday and job security.

In a recent appearance on the "Foul Territory" podcast, Sportsnet columnist Shi Davidi said that both Schneider and team president/CEO Mark Shapiro will sign contract extensions, if they haven't done so already.

"(A contract extension) may be done already," Davidi said on the Foul Territory podcast Monday. "If it's not done yet it's going to be done soon, there'll  be an extension done for (Schneider). And an extension for Shapiro, as well. All that 'hot seat' stuff, that disappeared probably around last June, or so, when the team turned the corner and then didn't let up. John Schneider actually deserves a ton of credit. There was a very strong case for him to be Manager of the Year in the American League. Some people around the team were quite frustrated it didn't happen for him at that point in time. The type of work that the Blue Jays did in transforming themselves out of '24 into the group that went into '25, a lot of that lands on (Schneider). He was very deliberate in the offseason. A lot of it was player-driven but it was running through him. I think anybody questioning his future didn't watch what happened last year. That will probably be resolved fairly soon, same with Shapiro. This is a team that has some stability, that's valued continuity and is poised to continue with that at two of the key leadership spots."

Schneider was one of three finalists for the American League Manager of the Year award alongside Seattle Mariners skipper Dan Wilson and Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt.

Vogt won the award for the second straight season and Schneider finished second.
