Jackson Chourio and William Contreras fueled a decisive four-game winning streak as the Milwaukee Brewers' first-inning power surge stifled the Texas Rangers.
The Milwaukee Brewers improved to 85-51 after taking care of business against the Texas Rangers, 5-3.
Shane Drohan picked up his seventh win of the season while Chad Patrick and Antonio Senzatela added their 10th and ninth holds, respectively.
Trevor Megill needed just seven pitches to record his 25th save. Offensively, Jackson Chourio hit his 20th home run of the season while William Contreras added his 13th.
Those two home runs were notable as both came in the first inning. Chourio's was a solo shot with one out, and then Contreras would homer two at-bats later.
In the end, the Rangers tried to make things interesting with a two-run homer in the eighth inning, but Milwaukee prevailed and has now won four straight games.
Offense has been incredibly consistent
One of the biggest issues with the Brewers is their offense. Some games they're putting up 22 runs, but then they'll go a stretch where they can't score more than one run in three straight games.
Obviously, that's what ended their season last year in the National League Championship Series. Milwaukee was swept because they couldn't score more than one run per game, and that simply can't happen again here in 2026.
Thankfully, there's been a lot to love about this Brewers offense, even if they didn't add a bat at the deadline.
Chourio has been on an absolute heater, and Contreras is beginning to get back on track after an extended cold stretch.
Elsewhere, rookies Luis Lara and Cooper Pratt combined for the remaining three RBIs. This Brewers team knew exactly what they were doing when they signed those two to major extensions before they ever set foot in the majors, and that decision has already paid off in a big way.
Drohan remains a crucial part of the starting rotation
When using this six-man rotation, all the Brewers have been asking out of Drohan, and Robert Gasser is to go out there and get at least five innings.
Once again, Drohan did just that. There was a bit of traffic on the basepaths as he allowed six hits and a walk, but he allowed just one earned run, which was a solo shot, and he struck out six Rangers batters.
Patrick was asked to go three innings, but he was pulled after recording seven outs once the Rangers hit their two-run shot. Thankfully, Senzatela has been pretty solid, and there was never a doubt that Megill would be able to secure this team's league-leading 85th victory.
