Surpassing Pedro Martinez’s legendary standard, the Milwaukee Brewers' 24-year-old ace dominated the 2026 season.

Since 1900, there hasn't been an MLB pitcher who's opponents batting average was lower than Jacob Misiorowski's.

The Milwaukee Brewers ace is just 24 years old, but what he's done this season is absolutely incredible, and that's even underselling it.

Misiorowski's rise through the ranks in the MLB has been unbelievable, and it's crazy to think this was his first full season in the league.

Coming off a year where he was named an All-Star, though many disagreed due to his small sample size, Miz followed it up with a 16-5 record, 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 6.5 WAR, and a 5.7 K/BB ratio.

He started 30 games and ended up throwing 174.2 innings which was by far the most during a single-season in his career.

The most impressive part? Opponents hit just .157 against him, and that's one that could remain in the record books for the rest of time.

Misiorowski surpasses Pedro Martinez's legendary season

Back in 2000, Pedro Martinez set the standard as batters hit just .167 against him. One could argue that was a different era so what he did was more impressive, especially since he threw 217.0 innings in one fewer start than Misiorowski.

Regardless, the game has changed, many would argue for the better, and Misiorowski is officially a history maker.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Misiorowski's opponents batting average of .157 is the lowest since 1900 for an American League or National League pitcher with 100 or more innings.

For reference, opponents hit .213 against him in his rookie season, but he would've been in-eligible as that only came with a 66.0 inning sample size.

Here in 2026, he's left no doubts as he eyes his first or what could be many Cy Young Awards.

San Diego Padres' offense is put on notice

What the San Diego Padres did in the Wild Card round was impressive, no doubt, but now it's time for them to face the one and only Misiorowski.

Miz pitched against them on May 13 this season in an outing that saw him throw seven scoreless innings.

The Brewers actually lost that game, 3-1, but it was far from Misiorowski's fault as he only allowed four hits in his seven innings of work.

Miz struck out 10 batters in that one as part of a month where he struck out 57 batters in 38.1 innings.

His last two starts in September were only a combined 8.1 innings, but that just means his arm is fresher than ever, and this is a guy who has only given up one earned run in his last four starts.
