The St. Louis Cardinals are in the middle of a rebuild, but are looking to take a big jump next season.
Any potential jump will start with spring training, and the Cardinals released their Grapefruit League slate Tuesday.
The Cardinals' home games will take place at the team's spring training facility of Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Fla.
St. Louis has 29 games on the schedule. Fifteen of those will take place in Jupiter.
The Cardinals' game on March 4 will be a World Baseball Classic exhibition against the Nicaragua WBC team.
The 2026 World Baseball Classic takes place from March 1-17. So far, catcher Ivan Herrera is the only player in the organization confirmed for the WBC. He'll play for Team Panama.
Feb. 21 — St. Louis' Grapefruit League opener against the Washington Nationals.
March 1, March 5 — The Cardinals will play against their National League Central rivals the Pittsburgh Pirates. They're the only two NL Central teams that compete in the Grapefruit League.
March 4 — WBC exhibition game against Team Nicaragua.
March 22 — Spring training finale against the Houston Astros.
There's a decent chance most of the featured players on St. Louis from the last several seasons will have other homes by the time players report to Jupiter.
Third baseman Nolan Arenado, outfielder Lars Nootbaar and starting pitcher Sonny Gray have all found their names in trade rumors.
The Cardinals also had a shake up in the minor league personnel and brought on Houston Astros farm director Jacob Buffa.
Depending on how the offseason goes and the moves the team makes, the makeup of St. Louis could look drastically different.
As mentioned before, the Cardinals could have a completely different look. St. Louis is still in the early stages of a rebuild and it's hard to see the vision of what a team could be while it's still building.
Depending on the moves, that picture on what St. Louis' immediate future looks like could become a lot more clear.
Several players will be traded. It's just a matter of which will be moved and who the newcomers to the team will be.
