Chase DeLauter has exceeded all expectations for the Cleveland Guardians in his impressive rookie season.
Chase DeLauter came into his rookie season with the Cleveland Guardians with enormously high expectations, even for one of the top prospects in the organization.
With Cleveland coming into the season with a struggling offense, and DeLauter's bat being his biggest strength, there was an anticipation that the rookie would immediately impact the big-league team.
DeLauter has done just that, and more, for the Guardians during his rookie season, and Cleveland can't ask any more than what he's done this year.

In mid-August, DeLauter carries a .285/.359/.445 slash line. Plus, he either leads or shares the lead for just about every major stat category on the team, including OPS (.804), home runs (13), doubles (22), and RBI (57).
DeLauter has been Cleveland's best offensive player since Opening Day.

At this point in the year, it's not uncommon to see first-year players hit a "rookie wall," but not Chase. Since the All-Star break, DeLauter has a .836 OPS and has recorded multi-hit games in three straight contests.
DeLauter has logged 34 multi-hit games during his rookie season, which is the most by a Cleveland player in their first 104 games since Francisco Lindor in 2015. That's certainly some impressive company to be in.
Manager Stephen Vogt said ahead of Friday night's contest that he "couldn't be more impressed" with DeLauter's season up to this point.
"His ability to drive the ball to all fields, his ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark when he gets a mistake, the lack of Chase, it's a it's a grown-up at bat," Cleveland's skipper said.
"It's been really fun to see somebody do that in their first year in the big leagues, and really couldn't have asked for anything more than what Chase has done for us, and he's getting better each and every day."
Cleveland's offense may be scuffling as a group, but DeLauter is living up to all the expectations set on him when the year began, which should at very least excite the Guardians heading into the future.
