Rodriguez took a few days to reflect before ultimately posting a hopeful message on Instagram.
After a few days of reflection, Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez posted to Instagram on Saturday night, giving his thoughts on the M's season and what's coming next.
The Mariners were beaten in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday, a crushing defeat for a team that won its first American League West title in 24 years.
Per Rodriguez:
"A lot of things to be proud of, and a lot of things to work for. M's Fam you are truly the best in the game. Thank you for all the support this whole year, your boyz will be back."
Though there was no doubt that Rodriguez would take an optimistic tone in his post, it's still nice for fans to see that tone given that many are still processing the Game 7 loss and the fact that the Mariners narrowly missed an opportunity to play in the World Series for the first time.
Seattle won 90 games in the regular season and beat the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series.
Rodriguez's year
The 24-year-old put together an incredible season, hitting .267 with 32 home runs and 95 RBIs. He also stole 30 bases and played supreme defense.
He was named an All-Star for the third time and was recently named a finalist for the Silver Slugger Award, which he's already won twice. He was also named a finalist for the Gold Glove in center field.
He paired with Cal Raleigh, Josh Naylor, Eugenio Suarez, Jorge Polanco and Randy Arozarena to make up one of the best lineups in the American League.
What comes next
For Rodriguez, it's award season.
For the Mariners, it's the offseason. Players will hit free agency officially within a week of the World Series ending. The Mariners will likely see three key members of this team hit free agency in Naylor, Suarez and Jorge Polanco.
According to reports, the M's will have about $30 million to spend this offseason, which is enough to bring back two of those three probably. Naylor remains the priority.
