The Seattle Mariners are the closest the franchise has ever been to the World Series.
Entering Sunday, the Mariners had a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Seattle will have its first opportunity to win its first-ever pennant in Game 6 of the ALCS at 5:03 p.m. PT on Sunday at Rogers Centre in Toronto. If Toronto wins Game 6, Game 7 will take place at 5:08 p.m. PT on Monday.
The Mariners' trip to Toronto coincided with another journey up north from another Seattle professional team — the National Hockey League team the Seattle Kraken.
The Kraken went to Scotiabank Arena on Saturday to play the Toronto Maple Leafs. In a post shared by the M's official account on "X," the Kraken players all wore Mariners jerseys while coming out of the bus.
In what was hopefully a sign of good fortune for Seattle's baseball team, Seattle's hockey club beat the Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime.
The Kraken are 3-0-2 through the first five games of the season and are tied for third for the most points in the Western Conference (eight) entering Sunday.
The NHL squad's support for the Mariners continued after the win.
After the game, Seattle head coach Lane Lambert did his postgame interview wearing an M's jersey.
Seattle, as a city, has always been supportive of each other's franchises, no matter what sports they encompass.
The University of Washington, Seattle Sounders and Seattle Seahawks (the latter two play next door to the Mariners at Lumen Field) all shared posts of support for the Mariners before and during their playoff run.
Before Seattle's Game 5 win against the Blue Jays on Friday, where the Mariners won 6-2 after third baseman Eugenio Suarez hit a go-ahead grand slam, former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman addressed the crowd and got them excited for the contest.
The whole city has been behind the M's during their playoff run, and that trend will likely continue for the final game or two in Toronto.
