Congratulations are in order for Seattle Mariners broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith, who was just named as the National Sports Media Association (NSMA) Sportscaster of the Year in the State of Washington.
Mariners' beat reporter Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times was named as the Sportswriter of the Year in the state. It is the first win for both individuals.
It's hard to believe, but Goldsmith is getting ready to start his 14th season with the Mariners in 2026. He has extensive experience on both television and radio with the M's, but is mostly heard on television now. Dave Sims left the organization before the 2025 season, which opened up a restructuring of the broadcast teams. Occasionally, Goldsmith will be on radio, but he usually shares the television screen with Angie Mentink or Ryan Rowland-Smith.
In addition to calling games for the Mariners, he can be heard doing Big Ten basketball games and he also has years of college football experiences.
Goldsmith has become synonymous with some of the biggest calls in team history over the last 13 years, including some gems from the historic 2025 season:
MORE MARINERS STORIES:
--With just five weeks remaining until spring training, the Mariners still have questions to answer. Are they really confident with both Cole Young and Colt Emerson/Ben Williamson in the infield? Can they trade for Ketel Marte or Brendan Donovan? And how about another bullpen arm?
--We will tackle some of those questions on the upcoming episode of the 'Refuse to Lose' podcast, which is Monday night at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT.
--The M's biggest rivals, the Houston Astros, just announced their signing of Japanese starting pitcher Tatsuya Imai, while the Blue Jays announced the signing of infielder Kazuma Okamoto.
--The World Baseball Classic is slated to begin in early March and several M's will be representing their national teams, including Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez, Randy Arozarena, Matt Brash, Josh Naylor and Michael Arroyo. Others could join the mix as well.
