The Seattle Mariners have boasted one of the best farm systems in baseball over the last several seasons.
This past season alone, the Mariners had as many as nine top 100 prospects, per both MLB Pipeline and Baseball America.
A large part of Seattle's quantity of top 100 prospects and quality of its farm system has been due to stellar draft classes.
In 2024, the M's selected two pitchers in the first two rounds: switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje in the first round out of Mississippi State and right-hander Ryan Sloan out of high school in the second round.
Both hurlers made their professional debuts in 2025. Cijntje began the year with the High-A Everett AquaSox and ended it with the Double-A Arkansas Travelers.
Sloan started his career with the Single-A Modesto Nuts and concluded '25 with the AquaSox.
Both hurlers are featured on MLB Pipeline's top 100 list: Cijntje is ranked as the 90th-best prospect in baseball and Sloan is placed 44th.
Baseball America's top 100 has Cijntje at 89th and Sloan at 64th.

Recently, Sloan earned another distinction: being named Seattle's breakout prospect for the year.
Sloan was recognized in an article written by Jonathan Mayo, Sam Dykstra and Jim Callis of MLB.com highlighting one breakout prospect from this past season for all 30 major league organizations.
The article had the following assessment of Sloan.
It's not that we didn't think Sloan was talented. He was in the Mariners' top 10 to start the season as a 2024 second-rounder who got an over-slot $3 million to sign. But you never know how a high school arm is going to react to a first pro season, especially from a cold-weather state like Illinois. Well, Sloan handled things pretty well. ... Now in our overall top 50, it should surprise no one if he jumps into the top right-handed prospect conversation in 2026.
Sloan posted a 3.77 ERA and struck out 90 batters in 82 innings pitched (21 starts) with Modesto and Everett.
Sloan missed out on the opportunity to pitch in the Northwest League Championship Series for the AquaSox due to an eye operation.
Everett went on to win the Northwest League title.
Sloan is currently the farthest away from the major leagues of any of the M's top prospects, according to projections from MLB Pipeline.
The site has Cijntje and 2025 first-round pick Kade Anderson (No. 23 MLB Pipeline top 100, No. 29 Baseball America top 100) making their major league debuts in 2027 and Sloan heading to the big leagues in 2028.
But, Sloan has started to garner more recognition around baseball circles. At his current trajectory, there's a current chance he and Anderson could be regarded as the best pitching prospects in baseball before they make their first starts in the majors.
