Who'll Follow Inaugural Class into Marlins' Hall of Fame?

Opening Day for Major League Baseball is still off in the distance. Spring training in Florida and Arizona officially opens Friday, Feb. 20. The World Baseball Classic's Miami bracket opens play on Friday, March 6. But the Miami Marlins will kick off their never-too-early-baseball preseason FanFest and firework show on Saturday, Feb. 7, at loanDepot Park. DuringFanFest, the inductees for 2026 Marlins Legends Hall of Fame class will be announced. Last year's inaugural class included Jeff Conine, Jim Leyland, Jack McKeon and Luis Castillo.  With the big reveal expected in four short days -- one day before Super Bowl Sunday, who are the best bets for inclusion?  MLB's season opens Wednesday night, March 25, as the New York Yankees taking on the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.  The Marlins opted to hold Opening Day on Friday night, March 27, hosting the Colorado Rockies. Feb 4, 2026

Get to Marlins' Opener Early for Stowers Bobblehead

Opening Day for the Miami Marlins will really take place at 7 p.m. ET on March 27, as the Fish host the Colorado Rockies at LoanDepot Park to kick off the 2026 MLB season. But if attendees are looking to hook a Kyle Stowers bobblehead the team is giving out, they'd better get there early. The promotional bobblehead of the Marlins outfielder will be given out to the first 25,000 fans through the gates that Friday night. Last year, the Marlins' opening-day game versus the Pittsburgh Pirates drew a crowd of 31,590, one of the best-attended home games of the Fish's 2025 season. Capacity at LoanDepot is 37,442. Depending on where you're coming from in South Florida -- and what you can afford as far as parking, locals advise getting to the park at least two hours before the first pitch. "Opening Day is always a big draw, regardless of who we are playing against," CrownAcquisitions1 posted on the MiamiMarlins subReddit on Saturday, noting that there will be plenty of opening-day festivities to attend for early birds. Park gates open one hour before game time. Another commenter, rightexactly, clearly a gimlet-eyed South Florida sports fan who has experienced Miami-fan laggards and no-shows regardless of venue, added, "You can get there at first pitch and probably still snag one."Jan 31, 2026

Marlins' Park Again to Host World Baseball Classic

LoanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins, will play host to the 2026 World Baseball Classic, tournament organizers announced Thursday. The Marlins' home venue was the first in WBC history to host all three rounds and the championship game of the annual tournament in 2023, when Shohei Ohtani led Team Japan to victory in the final game. LoanDepot Park again will host games in pool play, the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the WBC Championship game. The tournament runs March 5-17.  Pool play will also take place at Minute Maid Park, home to the Houston Astros; the Tokyo Dome in Japan; and Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Quarterfinals games are set for Minute Maid Park and loanDepot Park, then the semis and final will be played in Miami. The Marlins' home park also hosted the NHL's 2026 Winter Classic, held Jan. 2. The New York Rangers defeated the Florida Panthers 5-1 in the league's annual outdoor tournament.Jan 31, 2026

Marlins' Alcántara Joins Stacked Team DR for WBC

Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcántara will join fellow countryman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays first baseman, in playing for Team Dominican Republic at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The Dominican Baseball Federation announced earlier this week numerous additional all-star players who will represent the Dominican Republic at the upcoming Classic. They include San Diego Padres right-fielder Fernando Tatis Jr.; Pittsburgh Pirates centerfielder Oneil Cruz; and left-hander Cristopher Sánchez of the Philadelphia Phillies. White Sox reliever Seranthony Domínguez and free-agent first baseman Carlos Santana also have been added to Team DR's roster, the DBF announced Thursday. The Dominican Republic will first face Nicaragua in the WBC's Pool D on March 6 at 7 p.m. ET at loanDepot park in Miami. Alcántara, a 2022 Cy Young Award winner and two-time All-Star, is reportedly working himself back into form this offseason.
