The Philadelphia Phillies could look to add a power hitter to the lineup.

This coming offseason could be one of the biggest for the Philadelphia Phillies in some time, following another early playoff exit.

Philadelphia fell in the National League Wild-Card series, seeing their World Series goals fall short again. The team stumbled down the stretch of the regular season, and they couldn't overcome the issues in the playoffs.

So, entering the offseason, the Phillies' front office has a lot of work to do to bring this team closer to contention. Philadelphia will have to answer a lot of questions about the roster, looking to add the right pieces to the team.

As always with a team like the Phillies, they have been linked to the highest-profile players in the offseason. For this year, Philadelphia has been mentioned as an honorable landing spot for NPB star Teruaki Sato.

MLB analyst Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report named the Phillies as a possible landing spot, giving thought to the team signing the Japanese star. Even though Philadelphia may have real competition in the Sato sweepstakes, they remain as a possible player to sign him.

Sato will be posted to come to the big leagues soon, and once he does, teams will have 45 days to sign him. If he doesn't agree to a deal with a team by then, Sato will then head back to Japan, but in all likelihood, a deal will be had.

Last season in Japan, Sato hit .306 with 39 home runs and 106 RBIs, winning the Triple Crown in the process. Sato's power has been one of the bigger discussions around baseball this offseason, and any team could use his services.

The Phillies could look to put his bat into the lineup next to Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, hoping to add more firepower. Philadelphia needs to address the inconsistent offense this offseason, and Sato could be one way to make it happen.

Sato has mainly played at third base during his career in the NPB, and the Phillies could have an opening at the position. But some teams have been wary of Sato's long-term ability to play third, which could spell some trouble down the line.

This could play into Philadelphia's quest to sign him, with Sato giving similar concerns to Trea Turner's evaluation on defense from a few years ago. The Phillies didn't listen then, and now Turner has become a liability at shortstop.

Sato will be a coveted player, and it remains to be seen if the Phillies will look to spend again this winter. But Philadelphia's quest to win could see the front office look to make a splash, and Sato could be one of the stronger moves to make.
