The Texas Rangers will be back in a familiar place as they open up a three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

The Texas Rangers are familiar with Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz. It was there that the most iconic moment in franchise history took place as they won the 2023 World Series title.

Since then, things haven’t been the same for the Rangers as the team has missed the postseason entirely each of the last two seasons and this year, finds itself fighting to reach the postseason with a record of just 72-75.

Looking to rekindle some good memories, Texas will open up a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night in downtown Phoenix on the final leg of their penultimate road trip.

First pitch in Friday night’s series opener is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. CST as Texas continues their string of late starts back in the metroplex.

At the time of this writing, both teams have their starting pitchers for each game of the series listed as TBD. We can assume that, at some point in this series, we will see MacKenzie Gore throw for the Rangers.

Friday night would mark five days since Gore last pitched as he last took the mound on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays where he went just three innings while allowing seven hits and five earned runs.

On the year, Gore has posted a 8-10 record with a 4.51 ERA, a 1.338 WHIP with 170 stirkeouts in 157 innings.

Back on May 12, Gore delivered one of his best performances of the season against the D-Backs at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

Gore fired a career-high eight innings, allowing just three hits and one run with one walk and five strikeouts. The Rangers would go on to win that game 7-4.

Texas would go on to win that series two games to one against Arizona. In game one, the Rangers were shutout in a 1-0 defeat. game two was Gore’s brilliant performance and in game three, Danny Jansen delivered a walkoff single to cap off a ninth inning rally in a 6-5 Rangers win.

Coming into this series, Texas sits just three games back of first place in the American League West and two games back of the AL’s Final Wild Card spot.
