The Texas Rangers had a pair of prospects in action on Tuesday afternoon in the Arizona Fall League as the Saguaros suffered their first loss.

For the first time in the 2026 Arizona Fall League, the Surprise Saguaros failed to pick up a victory.

On Tuesday afternoon, Surprise fell to the Rafters 7-2, dropping their season record to 3-1 through the year’s first four games.

Just two of the Texas Rangers' nine AFL prospects participated in the game, with Sebastian Walcott and Julian Brock both getting starts.

Walcott struggles as Rangers prospect

Walcott played as the team’s designated hitter, a role in which he was familiar during this minor league season after he spent most of his time there following his recovery from elbow surgery that prevented him from playing the field in the majority of games.

It was a tough night for the Rangers' top prospect as Walcott went 0-for-4 at the plate. In the first inning, Walcott took a hack at the first pitch of his at-bat, sending a 95.4 MPH sinker on the ground to third base, where he was thrown out.

With the Saguaros already trailing 4-0, Walcott stepped back up to the plate in the third, and after fouling off a pair of pitches and taking a slider for a ball, he once again grounded out to third on a ball that he smoked at 111.3 mph off the bat.

Ninth inning out wraps up 0-for-4 night for Walcott

In the sixth inning, Walcott once again took a rip at the first pitch of his at-bat, sending a fly ball out to right field, which was put away. In his final at-bat of the night, he would make the first out of the ninth inning as he popped out to the catcher in foul territory.

We should see Walcott in action at least one more time this week in Fall League action, as the Rangers’ plan is to get him in two or three games per week in the AFL.

As for Brock, he was one of the lone bright spots for the Surprise offense. While getting the start behind the dish, the Texas prospect went 1-for-3 with a hit and an RBI.

In his first at-bat of the game, Brock grounded out to third to end the second inning. Just three frames later, in the fifth, Brock laced an RBI double into left-center field to get the Saguaros on the board. Brock would strike out in the seventh in his final at-bat of the afternoon.

Surprise will have Wednesday off before returning to action on Thursday, when they take on the Scottsdale Scorpions.
