The Texas Rangers had another strong day in the Arizona Fall League with multiple prospects playing, but the Saguaros dropped their second straight contest.

The Surprise Saguaros were back in action in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday after their off-day on Wednesday.

It was once again a busy day for the Texas Rangers prospects who are participating in the league.

Unfortunately, the Saguaros dropped their second straight game as they lost to the Scorpions 4-1.

The lone Surprise run of the day was driven in by Rangers outfield prospect Paxton Kling, who continued his strong Fall League.

In the fourth inning, Kling took the seventh pitch of his at-bat and ripped it into right field for an opposite-field RBI knock.

Kling grounded out to second base during his first at-bat in the second inning. In the sixth, he struck out swinging, and in the ninth, he reached on an error by the third baseman.

Rangers' McConnaughey comes through in AFL

Texas catcher Julian Brock got the start behind the dish and went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts.

Perhaps the real winner of the day from the Rangers side of things was right-handed pitching prospect Mason McConnaughey.

McConnaughey threw 2.1 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while punching out five batters.

McConnaughey was drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round out of Nebraska in the 2025 draft.

This season, the righty appeared in both rookie ball and Single-A, posting a 3.48 ERA in eight appearances, seven of which were starts.

With a strong finish to the Fall League and solid Spring Training, there’s no doubt that McConnaughey could position himself to push into the upper levels of the minor leagues at some point next season.

The Saguaros will be back in action on Friday as they take on the Javelinas and will look to snap their losing skid.

Sebastian Walcott could feature in the lineup for Surprise as he is expected to play two or three times per week in the Fall League.

Walcott is, of course, the Rangers' No. 1 prospect but missed much of the minor-league season this year while dealing with an injury.

It’ll be worth noting to see if Walcott gets a start at shortstop as even when he did come back at the end of the minor league season, he was mostly limited to DH.

The Rangers have said that the plan for Walcott is to get in defensive work at the Fall League, not just in-game but on the side when he is not in the lineup.
