Looking at some numbers from young players on the Colorado Rockies' roster, they are showing promise for a bright future.
If you are looking for a bit of good news in this 2026 MLB season for the Colorado Rockies, then take a peek at some of these numbers for a few young players.
Cole Carrigg has been up for some time, along with TJ Rumfield. Zac Veen was called up just over a month or so ago. All three have been putting their best feet forward while playing for the big-league club.
All three of these players have been getting time in Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer's lineups. When put in that position, they've found ways to make an impact. Sure, the team right now is looking to avoid 100 losses.
These three players are future stars
Yet, in looking toward 2027 (with the hopes that a lockout does not happen), Carrigg, Rumfield, and Veen are lined up to be future stars for Colorado.
Through six games in September, Carrigg, Rumfield, and Zeen combined to go 22-for-58 (.379 average). Breaking it down individually, Rumfield went 11-for-23 with two doubles, one triple, and two home runs. Meanwhile, Carrigg put together an 8-for-26 total with a double, a triple, and a home run.
Veen has been hitting at a .333 clip this month, going 3-for-9 at the plate with a home run and a triple. Together, these three young players have driven in 12 runs while the Rockies, as a whole, have 34 runs. These guys are responsible for one-third of the team's entire offensive output.
Want more details? Here you go. Carrigg has seven home runs, which happen to be tied for the second-most by a Colorado switch-hitter all-time. He's just one home run behind Jason Bates, who did it back in 1995. Carrigg's 19 doubles tie him for the 10th-most among all MLB rookies this season.
Keep an eye on Adael Amador
One name that isn't mentioned in the earlier batch is infielder Adael Amador, who is the youngest player on the team's 40-man roster. Amador is 23 years, 152 days old, He has gone 8-for-22 with a double, a home run, and four RBIs since he was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque back on Sept. 1.
Additionally, Amador is one of two all-time Rockies switch-hitters to have at least 10 RBIs in their first 11 games of a season. He sits right beside Neifi Pérez, who had 11 RBIs in the 2001 MLB season.
What type of impact can these young players have going forward? They will need to showcase this output next season. Rockies fans have a chance to watch these guys gain experience and produce down the road.
