After losing a three-game series, the Colorado Rockies might be feeling a little blue on Thursday.
Just call it feeling the Dodger blues after the Los Angeles Dodgers came into Coors Field and swept the Rockies.
Besides Monday night's 11-5 loss, Colorado was in the other two games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. But they were not able to seal the deal with a victory.
It didn't help much to see starting pitcher Kyle Freeland leave his start with a neck injury. That will be something to watch over the next few days.
Still, the Rockies are going to get back in action on Friday night as the Cleveland Guardians come into Denver for a weekend three-game series.
Rockies look to avoid 100-loss season
Colorado is 50-77 overall this season, meaning they need to avoid losing 23 games for the rest of the season if they don't want to finish with another 100-loss season.
Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer has led this team all season long in 2026, getting the ballclub in a better position win-wise. They have made progress this season even though the overall record does not show it at all.
Players like catcher Hunter Goodman, Jake McCarthy, Mickey Moniak, and young players like Cole Carrigg have been playing well so far. Sure, they haven't been able to lead the Rockies to a .500 record. Still, Goodman has been the power source for the Colorado lineup.
Goodman is out of the lineup right now. Brett Sullivan has done a commendable job in Goodman's stead, yet not having Goodman's bat in the lineup has hurt the team's run production.
Beware of Guardians' lineup
For the Guardians, keep your eyes on players like right fielder Chase DeLauter, first basemen Rhys Hoskins and Kyle Mendoza, left fielder Angel Ramirez, and the always-dangerous Jose Ramirez. Keep your eyes on Jo Adell, too, who is coming off a big-time effort in the Guardians' recent series.
Those players, along with shortstop Brayan Rocchio, all have double digits in home runs. They probably are licking their chops in coming into hitter-friendly Coors Field.
It will be important for the Rockies' starting pitchers to keep the Guardians' hitters guessing at the plate. Additionally, avoiding too many pitches down the middle of plate will just embolden Cleveland's offense to take big swings.
Tanner Gordon gets the start on Friday night for the Rockies against Joey Cantillo of Cleveland, while Gabriel Hughes takes the mound on Saturday and faces Tanner Bibee. In Sunday's finale, Tomoyuki Sugano squares off against Foster Griffin.
Cleveland is in third place in the American League Central Division, 4.5 games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox. They'll probably see coming into play the Rockies as a chance to pad their record, which is 62-66.
Let's see if Colorado can throw a wrench into the Guardians' plans.
