The Colorado Rockies are going to have a test in the Arizona Diamondbacks for their last home series in the 2026 MLB season.
This season has not been full of a lot of home victories for the Colorado Rockies. Usually, a team's home stadium -- in this case, Coors Field -- should offer a respite from the problems and issues when a team goes on the road.
Players are around comfortable environments and can hopefully feel better about their play. Still, the Rockies will finish many games below .500 at home.
Monday was an off day for Colorado, giving the team time to get ready for a final home series this season. The Arizona Diamondbacks are going to come into the Mile High City, and they are busy looking for a National League postseason playoff position.
The Rockies, of course, would have loved to be in that type of spot at this time of the season. That, obviously, is not going to happen but I would not count them out already from being involved next season in postseason conversation.
There are a number of players that Rockies president of baseball operations has on the roster right now who will for a nucleus of success. Rockies fans have seen some young players, such as Cole Carrigg or TJ Rumfield, come up and hustle their way into their hearts.
Still, Colorado will be looking to finish strong in front of the Coors Field faithful. The Rockies are just one loss away from 100 losses this season, which seems to be a foregone conclusion at this point.
Let's see if they have a sweep of the D-backs in them.
Condon finishes minor-league season
At one moment, there were potential conversations around calling Charlie Condon up from the minor leagues for some playing time with the major-league team.
Condon was on fire earlier in the 2026 season, showing a lot of power and speed in the Rockies' minor-league system. That firepower, though, fizzled out a bit and Condon ended up just staying in the minors all season long.
He, though, ended his season on a high note. Condon smashed his 27th home run of the season, a three-run blast, as he finished up playing for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.
Condon is the Rockies' No. 3 prospect and played more than 100 games this season. It marks the first time that has happened in his young career. Look at these numbers for him: a slash line of .273/.390/.514. Those numbers should impress Rockies management a whole lot.
Now, the question becomes if the franchise will consider adding him to the major-league roster entering the 2027 MLB season. Remember, though, a lockout might happen to delay any baseball play at all.
