Kyle Karros has been out of action for the Colorado Rockies since colliding with a teammate in the infield. Karros, though, is back now and should be good to go for the rest of this season.

It's been a stretch since Colorado Rockies fans have seen third baseman Kyle Karros either in the dugout or on the field.

On Monday, the Rockies must have believed Karros was in good shape to finally return to the active roster. Karros was reinstated from the seven-day concussion Injured List. To make room for Karros, the ballclub optioned infielder-outfielder Ryan Ritter to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

Karros and shortstop Ezequiel Tovar were involved in a massive crash during an August contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix. While Tovar, after a few minutes, was able to get back to his feet, Karros did not immediately bounce up himself.

The Rockies' medical personnel and manager Warren Schaffer came onto the field to check on Karros. Eventually, Karros got himself up and walked off the field under his own power.

After the game ended, Schaeffer informed reporters in his post-game media scrum that Karros immediately entered concussion protocol.

Now, all eyes will be watching to see when Schaeffer finds a spot for Karros to get back on the field and into the batter's box before this season comes to an end.

Tyler Freeman clears waivers, now with Isotopes

While Colorado got Karros back on Monday, the ballclub made some moves last Saturday.

Among them was having infielder-outfielder Tyler Freeman outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque. Freeman cleared waivers and that made him available to get sent to the Isotopes.

Other moves of note over the weekend included placing infielder-outfielder Willi Castro on the 10-day Injured List, which is retroactive to Sept. 2. Castro is dealing with left heel inflammation right now.

The Rockies also selected infielder Vimael Machin's contract from Albuquerque to join the big-league club.

Rockies take day off on Monday

While Rockies fans and others around the United States are taking some time off on Labor Day, Colorado did not have a game on its schedule.

That, though, goes by the wayside as they are going to open up a three-game series on Tuesday night against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. As of Sunday afternoon, the Yankees had not named their probable starters.

For Colorado, Gabriel Hughes is lined up to start on Tuesday night, followed by Tomoyuki Sugano on Wednesday, and Ryan Feltner on Thursday. All three games in the Bronx are scheduled for 5:05 p.m. MT first pitches.

If the Rockies lose 12 more games, then they will finish with another 100-loss season. The players will do their best to not reach that mark in the coming days.
