Colorado Rockies outfielder Cole Carrigg earned National League Rookie of the Month award for his September play.
What a season it was for Colorado Rockies rookie infielder-outfielder Cole Carrigg. Once he made his presence felt in the Rockies' lineup, the young player managed to impress anyone watching him both in the field and at the plate.
For what he did in September, Carrigg was named the National League Rookie of the Month on Tuesday.
Carrigg brought a new level of hustle and determination into a Colorado roster that needed someone like himself to deliver. Yes, Carrigg and TJ Rumfield both delivered during their time with the team in 2026. Rumfield won this award earlier this season, too.
Yet for this month's award, Carrigg got the nod.
Carrigg delivered for Rockies
The 24-year-old Carrigg got into 24 games in September for Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer. He put together a slash line of .327/.340/.571 with four doubles, one triple, six home runs, 12 runs scored, 17 RBIs and three stolen bases.
Carrigg led all NL rookies in hits (52), homers, extra-base hits (11), slugging percentage and total bases (56). Other notable rankings among NL rookies included second in batting average, third in OPS, tied for fourth in stolen bases and tied for fifth in runs scored.
For his work in September, Carrigg joins Josh Rutledge, David Dahl and Nolan Jones as the lone Rockies rookies to hit at least .300 and total at least 11 extra-base hits and three stolen bases in a single month.
What has Carrigg done since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on June 9? He ranked among all qualified rookies in triples, doubles, extra-base hits, average and OPS. Carrigg also finished tied for the 10th-most doubles by a Rockies rookie along with Jones.
Expect Carrigg in Rockies' lineup next season
Going into next season, Carrigg should be a shoo-in to be a part of the Colorado lineup. He's proven far and above that he's worthy of a full season with the team. The same goes for Rumfield, too.
If you had a chance to watch Carrigg play at all this season, then anyone could see the fire that he just has within him to play and succeed. These are the types of players that can help catapult the Rockies into a much better season in 2027.
As Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes get to work with their offseason plans, don't expect Carrigg to not be included in them. This honor from Major League Baseball cements him as one of the Rockies' brightest stars
