Chase Briscoe wants to go three in a row at Phoenix Raceway but not in the way he has known there in the NASCAR Cup Series.

AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Chase Briscoe wants to go three in a row at Phoenix Raceway but not in the way he has known there in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Briscoe has won the last two Cup Series races this season, with wins at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Now, he's at Phoenix where he has had tire issues in the last two Cup races there.

In the spring, Briscoe started 20th and drove into the top-10 before a tire issue caused him to crash out after 131 laps. Last fall, while racing for the championship, he was fast enough to drive through the field but ran out of fresh tires and finished 18th.

Even before the streak of tire issues at Phoenix, he crashed in the spring race in 2025 and finished 29th in fall of 2024.

Briscoe's last top-10 finish at Phoenix was a ninth-place finish in spring of 2024.

"We have brought a different approach to Phoenix this weekend," Briscoe said.

Briscoe joked there are "a lot of trade secrets" associated with the different approach. Not only is it a change to avoid previous issues at Phoenix but it's a refinement of their setup with the increase in horsepower -- from 670 to 750 -- that Phoenix first saw in the spring.

Briscoe said the increase brought back the high lane in a way that Cup drivers haven't been seen since the Gen6 era ended in 2021.

"It's harder to get the power down on the low lane so the high lane has come back," he said.

Briscoe said that plays into his driving style. Part of the "different approach," he elaborated, is crew chief James Small working to adjust their setup to fit that style.

Phoenix is Briscoe's style. He earned his first Cup Series win back in March of 2022 with Stewart-Haas Racing.

Another win and repeating in the fall Talladega Superspeedway race next weekend would vault him from being on the mathematical fringe of championship contention to right in the mix with his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates and Kyle Larson.

After Phoenix, three races remain with the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway as the finale. Briscoe said his team is "beginning" to develop the setup for the race -- but he's staying the course on his preparation.

"For myself, it starts after Martinsville. I'm not gonna change anything I'm doing. Tuesday night, Wednesday... Monday we'll probably do some stuff, especially if we're in the mix," Briscoe said.

Briscoe has never won at Martinsville Speedway or Homestead-Miami. His best Martinsville finish was fourth in spring of 2023 with Stewart-Haas Racing. He also finished ninth in spring of 2025 with JGR. Meanwhile, his best Homestead-Miami finish was fourth last year.
