Kevin Harvick, his former Richard Childress Racing teammate and a weekly series great are the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2027, announced Tuesday in Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kevin Harvick leads the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2027, announced Tuesday in Charlotte.
Harvick, Jeff Burton and Larry Phillips will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as a part of the 2027 class. Burton and Harvick were the two nominees to get in on the Modern era ballot while Phillips was the nominee to get in on the Pioneer ballot.
Burton and Harvick were up against eight other nominees on the Modern era ballot, including Greg Biffle. Many people believed Biffle would get in, following his death in December. However, voters went with Burton and Harvick, instead.
Harvick won the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship. He finished his Cup Series career with 60 wins, ranked 10th all-time when he retired in 2023. Outside of racing in the top division, he also won 47 races and the 2006 championship in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and won 14 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races.
Away from the driver's seat, Harvick is currently a broadcaster with FOX and the owner of Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California, and was a NASCAR championship-winning car owner.
While Burton doesn't have as many Cup wins as Harvick (21) or a championship, his longevity in the sport, racing full-time from 1994 to 2013 and being a stalwart advocate for the garage area propelled him to a broadcast role with NBC/Versant. That hasn't stopped him from his advocacy as he remains an integral voice in decisions made even today.
Meanwhile, Phillips was the first of two drivers to win five NASCAR Weekly Series national championships. In all, he won 220 of his 289 NASCAR-sanctioned starts. Some believe he won 1,000 times, maybe even 2,000, and the likes of Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace credit him with being a tough competitor who taught them how to race.
Neil Bonnett, Tim Brewer, Randy Dorton, Ray Elder, Ernie Elliott, Randy LaJoie and Jack Sprague were the other Modern era nominees. Ray Fox, Harry Hyde, Banjo Matthews and Herb Nab were the other Pioneer nominees.
The 2026 class consisted of Modern inductees Kurt Busch and Harry Gant and Pioneer inductee Ray Hendrick.
The Landmark Award for outstanding contributions to NASCAR went to Lesa France Kennedy. She beat out Alvin Hawkins, Joseph Mattioli, Les Richter and T. Wayne Robertson for the 2027 award.
The award went to Anne Bledsoe France in 2026.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame will enshrine the 2027 class and honor the Landmark Award winner with a ceremony set for Friday, Jan. 22, 2027, at the Hall of Fame in Uptown Charlotte.
