Philadelphia 76ers executive Bob Myers is doing his part in recruiting LeBron James to the team.
The Philadelphia 76ers are seemingly all-in on attempting to sign free agent LeBron James.
The latest indication that Philadelphia is seriously pushing to acquire the 22-time All-Star is 76ers executive Bob Myers sending a clear message to James. Myers joined analyst Max Kellerman and James' agent Rich Paul on the 'Game Over' podcast to make his pitch to the four-time NBA champion.
"If he was here, I'd say I honestly believe this is your best chance to win. You have to decide all the other things that are equally important," Myers said. "...What I would just say is if it's about winning, you can win here in Philadelphia."
This is the right approach by Myers, as the on-court fit is the 76ers' biggest appeal.
James would slot flawlessly into Philadelphia's starting power forward role, which would push free agency signing Dean Wade to the bench and further bolster the second-unit. In the starting lineup, the 41-year-old would be joined by a plethora of talented players in Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, and Joel Embiid.
His playmaking would be needed more than ever before while scoring, defending, and rebounding could take secondary roles.
James does, however, need to be comfortable with a few factors before signing with the 76ers:
1. The risks that come with Embiid's health, as there is no guarantee the superstar center will be available when it matters.
2. The cold winter in Philadelphia.
3. The fact he won't be a primary option on offense.
4. The lack of ties to the city and organization compared to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
If the four-time MVP is willing to live with those aspects of joining the 76ers, signing with Philadelphia is a serious possibility.
