The Philadelphia 76ers could trade for a Washington Wizards forward in the coming months.
Veteran wing and three-time All-Star Khris Middleton agreed to a three-year contract with the Washington Wizards via sign-and-trade on Tuesday, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
The decision by Middleton to reunite with the Wizards paves the way for the Philadelphia 76ers to potentially make a trade with them. Washington is now home to a plethora of wings in A.J. Dybantsa, Bilal Coulibaly, Will Riley, Middleton, and Justin Champagnie.
The 76ers are finding themselves linked to a trade for the latest of the bunch, Champagnie. The proposed deal sees Philadelphia send forward Jabari Walker, a 2027 second-round pick (via PHX), and a 2028 second-rounder (via GSW) to Washington for Champagnie.
Champagnie would make an instant impact on the 76ers' second unit, as the 25-year-old averaged 8.7 points and 5.6 rebounds on 50.2% shooting in 69 games for the Wizards last season.
At 6-foot-6 and just over 200 pounds, he is a strong rebounder for a player of his size. Most of his scoring production comes from inside the arc, as he shot just 31.9% from three-point range on 2.4 attempts per game in the 2025-2026 campaign. This is the exact opposite of his brother and San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie, who knocked down 38.1% of his shots from the arc on nearly seven attempts per contest.
Champagnie's strongest attribute is by far his defense, as he can guard positions '1' through '3' at a high level. After losing backup guard Quentin Grimes to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency, this is an aspect of his game the 76ers should greatly desire.
Champagnie has found himself connected to the 76ers for months now, and it's easy to see why given his strengths that could greatly benefit Philadelphia's second unit.
