Jaylen Brown feels he's more than his career choice. To him, what you stand for means much more than how much you're worth.

Your legacy is something that follows you around long after you’ve left this world.

The Philadelphia 76ers have a legacy that transcends time with players like Moses Malone, Allen Iverson, and Julius "Dr. J” Erving. It seems Jaylen Brown wants to leave a legacy of his own.

Brown sat down with Mahershalia Ali and discussed what legacy means to him and what he wants his to be.

For Brown, he feels that his purpose is more than the game of basketball. He wants to inspire others to be themselves and to never change to fit the narrative. Brown joined the 76ers to change the perspective of the team, and he will do it with not only his play but also what he brings off the court.

This is a player that isn’t afraid to speak his mind. He wants people to view him as more than just a basketball player. This could be the kind of impact that changes a team’s trajectory. While the season has yet to start, Brown’s brash personality could be of use to this team. When things aren’t going right, you need that one player who is going to get on the others.

Brown’s just that kind of guy. That may be what his legacy leaves for him. His ideals as a leader are far more impactful than any other players, including LeBron James. Brown plays with a bit of reckless abandonment. While some consider his play to have “empty stats," it doesn’t change the fact that his presence is very important to what this team is trying to accomplish.

Brown emphasized that he doesn’t care about what others think of him. He’s always wanted to follow his own path. Maybe that path is what led him to Philadelphia.

When the team traded for him, they knew what they were getting. A resourceful forward who knew how to maximize his talents and earn himself a payday. His outspoken nature has been present from the moment he came into the NBA.  It’s partly what makes him such a great player.

When the season is underway, they are going to need every bit of what Brown brings. This team will go as he does. If it means being a little vocal, then so be it.

Brown is going to have to bring that attitude to the team and score at will. If not, then there’s a chance his personality could sour very quickly in Philadelphia.
