Tyrese Maxey discussed what it's like working out with LeBron James, and even explained the kind of relationship they have.
When a teammate praises another, it just goes to show how much respect that they have for one another. In LeBron James’ case, he’s earned that respect from every player in the association.
The new Philadelphia 76ers forward has heard some praise before, but none quite like what Tyrese Maxey gave him. Maxey was asked about James and if they were friends, and Maxey responded as candidly as you could.
Maxey called James the “old, old man” of the group in his conversation with ClutchPoints but said that he considers them friends. Maxey had worked out with James even before they became friends, which further intensified the idea that the two are indeed friends. He was also asked if he had a hand in the recruitment of James. Maxey casually said he didn’t have a hand in it, nor did he know about it, but he had a feeling.
This will be the only second time that Maxey will play with someone who can be the main one with the ball in their hand as the guard. Prior to James, Maxey did play with James Harden for a brief period of time. A time many people in Philadelphia would love to forget.
Now that is in the past, and James is their present. A move that many can’t stop talking about. As for Maxey. He can start to shine in his rightful position as a shooting guard. James and Maxey clearly have some kind of chemistry if they’ve been working out together for some time.
When James has time to work with someone, it usually leads to promising results. Just look at his past history between James and the guards on his team. He’s played with the likes of Kyrie Irving, JR Smith, and most notably, Dwayne Wade. While each one of them had a different style of play, they shined when playing with James. Wade was already a phenomenal teammate, but playing with James, you could see he was having fun playing the game that he loved.
That’s what this team can expect playing with the King. He may be serious and determined when they are on the court, but his enthusiasm and child-like personality will be refreshing in the locker room. It could be the thing that keeps the team together even if the season isn’t starting out how they expect.
James is a great teammate to many who have played with him. This new group is special and will be excited and thrilled to play with him, just like Maxey is expecting.
