Everyone knows Jaylen Brown will speak his mind. Now, it seems it could be a problem throughout the season.

The Philadelphia 76ers have plenty of personality on their team, and some of it may be detrimental to the team.

Jaylen Brown has been on various media outlets for different reasons. He spoke with Maratha Ali to discuss his legacy. Then he proceeded to have a boxing match that no one knew about. Got to include the comments regarding the NBA and its business practices.

Brown states he doesn’t care what many think of him. But what if it starts to impact your money? There’s such a thing as conduct detrimental to the team.  It’s the equivalent to a normal person causing a scene at their job and being brought up by their supervisor.

Could Brown’s personality be more of a detriment to the team? It has to be on the minds of some people in the front office. No one is saying Brown has to be a robot, but it has to be some kind of filter with him.

There’s a reason Brown was sent away by the Boston Celtics. Think about it, this is a Top 15 player who has won the Larry Bird trophy as the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and the Larry O’Brien trophy, and they still decided to trade him away. It had nothing to do with his talent and all about what he says off the court.

The NBA has seen plenty of outspoken players come and go, and Brown isn’t close to the worst. But that fact still remains that he has eyes on him. It’s all about the appearance. That’s part of the reason former commissioner David Stern went to such lengths to keep the NBA to a certain standard.

This could be the type of leadership that they brought in LeBron James for. There are going to be times when this team is out of sorts, and they will need someone to keep them on track.

Despite the fact that they are in Philadelphia, they too will get tired of Brown and what he says. They say everyone loves a person that speaks their mind until it’s something that they believe is affecting the team.

The season hasn’t truly started, so it’s easy to overlook this, but it’s going to come down to a serious conversation if these things persist.

Brown is definitely a key part of the team, but make no mistake about it, if what he says brings bad publicity, it’s sure to get him booted out of Philadelphia.
