LeBron James has come to the defense of new Philadelphia 76ers superstar Jaylen Brown.
The LeBron James free agency sweepstakes is producing conflicting feelings for Philadelphia 76ers fans.
Multiple reports are suggesting the Cleveland Cavaliers are the frontrunners to land James, but the 22-time All-Star's latest social media activity has the public wondering if another team is emerging as the favorite.
James posted to his Instagram story a video of former NBA guard Austin Rivers defending new 76ers superstar Jaylen Brown. In response to the video of Rivers, James wrote, "Put a [expletive] name on it!"
This got 76ers fans talking.
"Here we go," one account wrote.
"So you're telling me there's a chance," a user posted with a GIF.
"What is taking him so long? Just sign with Philly," another person questioned.
It's abundantly clear the Philadelphia fanbase wants James in a 76ers uniform next season, and it makes sense why.
James, from a basketball perspective, is the perfect match with the rest of the starting lineup of Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe, Brown, and Joel Embiid. His playmaking is off the charts, he remains a superb athlete, can provide secondary scoring, and is a solid defender. He would slot seamlessly into the starting power forward position, moving free agency signing Dean Wade to the second unit.
If James' sole priority when choosing his next team is to win another championship, the 76ers arguably give him the best opportunity to do so. The aforementioned starting five would be unmatched by any team across the league. The blend of talent, offensive firepower, and defensive prowess would be among the best of all-time.
Whether or not James is simply backing up another superstar or there is more to it remains to be seen.
