VP Player of Personnel Adrian Adonian is headed to Los Angeles. She will be the new GM for the Sparks

Just when everything seemed to be good for the Philadelphia 76ers, it looks like they’ll be losing a member of their staff. According to The Athletic, the 76ers will be losing their VP of player personnel to the Los Angeles Sparks.

Ariana Andonian will be moving on to the west coast to become the new general manager of the Sparks. Andonian will be replacing Raegan Pebley, who parted ways with the organization in July.  The Sparks have had six consecutive losing seasons and are looking to revamp the team along with their facilities with a new 150 million dollar practice facility.

Andonian will be a breath of fresh air for a franchise looking to get back to the WNBA Finals. A feat they haven’t done since 2016, nearly ten years ago.. Andoniain has plenty of experience as a GM as she was the GM of the Blue Coats since joining the organization in 2024. Prior to that, she was the Vice President of Player Personnel for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Adonian is going to bring a new perspective into the once well respected organization. After all, she was a part of one of the biggest offseason moves in the history of the 76ers. Acquiring LeBron James and Jaylen Brown wasn’t any easy feat by any means. But beyond all of that, her experience running the G-League affiliate Blue Coats gives her the experience many don’t have.

The Sparks are facing a massive overhaul in not only the front office but the entire roster as well. This is something that could benefit Ariana as she makes this transition. She will be given a clean slate, making it so she can bring in the players and front office that she believes can get this team back on track.  She’ll have to do it without their former MVP Nnemka Oqwumike who will be retiring after this season.

This shouldn’t be a problem for someone like Adonian who witnessed the growth of Tyrese Maxey and saw VJ Edgecombe come into his own. With that knowledge in mind, she’s sure to know what she wants her roster to look like. Whether she can make that turnaround in year one is to be determined.

Adonian is sure to bring all of her knowledge and resources into this new position she has rightly deserved. One thing is for sure, this won’t be the same Sparks team many knew before.
