Joel Embiid has yet to publicly welcome the Philadelphia 76ers' newest addition, Jaylen Brown.
The Philadelphia 76ers' fanbase welcomed superstar Jaylen Brown with open arms despite him spending his entire career with the rival Boston Celtics.
76ers guards Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe, along with other players, followed close behind, as both posted on social media about the blockbuster trade. One 76ers star, however, is yet to break silence on the deal: Joel Embiid.
There are a plethora of ways the public can view Embiid's non-reaction.
First, it's entirely possible Embiid spoke with Brown privately already, but it's still a bit strange the 2023 MVP has not posted anything related to the move on his social media accounts. The only recent activity on Embiid's social media is related to other sports.
The next possibility is Embiid just simply has not reached out yet. This scenario would also seem a bit odd from the outside looking in, but it's possible there is no deeper meaning to it.
Then, there are the more speculative approaches to the situation.
Is Embiid still upset with the comments Brown made about his flopping? Did Embiid make clear to the front office he wanted Paul George kept around? Are the 76ers quietly shopping Embiid?
All of these are more far-fetched than the previous hypotheticals, but none are out of the equation.
The reality is Embiid should be overjoyed about the acquisition of Brown.
This is because Philadelphia will no longer need to rely on the seven-time All-Star on a nightly basis. A core of Maxey, Edgecombe, and Brown should have no issues carrying the 76ers to a top seed in the Eastern Conference without Embiid in the mix consistently.
Having the two-time scoring champion is turning into more of a luxury than necessity. Still, his services will be greatly needed when it matters most.
Whether or not Embiid publicly addresses the now official trade remains to be seen.
