Cam Thomas' fluctuating minutes are starting to take their toll.
Consistency is not something that Cam Thomas has been able to enjoy as of late and he's starting to feel the effects.
His minutes from game to game have varied wildly in the final stretch of the season for the Milwaukee Bucks. Thomas went from playing 20 minutes or more in his first five games with the Bucks since they picked him up off of waivers from the Brooklyn Nets to a much sharper fluctuation.
Some games he plays close to 20 minutes again, other games he plays six minutes or less and in others he's jumped straight back up to the usage he was accustomed to before.

In the Bucks' Thursday loss to the Utah jazz, Thomas was back to usual it seems, playing 23 minutes in the game. But in just the game before, he played three minutes, though that was admittedly in a 23 point loss to the Atlanta Hawks, where the chance for any individual to make an impact was a long shot at best.
For Thomas, who described himself as a "rhythm player" after the loss to Utah, jumping around in usage like that makes it difficult for him to find a groove.

Be ready whenever your number's called," Thomas said (via Bucks). "It's tough, especially when you're a rhythm player, to get flow. Especially the way defenses load up against me... I just want to be out there."
Thomas did make the most of his up-jumped minutes against Utah. he scored 14 points in 23 minutes while shooting 5-11 from the field, grabbing two rebounds, four assists, one steal and block along the way.

The fact that Thomas was made available by the Nets at all after the trade deadline was a shock and over a month later, he does stand out as a steal for Milwaukee.
The Bucks Lack Rhythm
Still, lacking rhythm isn't a problem unique to Thomas in Milwaukee. The whole team has been looking for consistency throughout the season, which has been especially hard with the several injuries that have kept star Giannis Antetokounmpo off the court.
The lack of flow throughout the team is reflected in their 28-41 record and as the Bucks have tried to remedy their issues, they've tried a whole host of methods.
Thomas is still finding his place in Milwaukee, a place that the Bucks hoped would be as a physical one-two punch with Antetokounmpo.
That strategy, like many of the Bucks' plans, hasn't panned out. As the team goes looking for answers on how to turn their roster's performance around, Thomas is finding himself feeling as lost as the team does as a whole.
