Should the Milwaukee Bucks keep Myles Turner?

The Milwaukee Bucks already made a significant move in the offseason, trading Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakučionis, and draft compensation.

They also made two picks in the 2026 NBA Draft, selecting guard Brayden Burries and forward Nate Ament.

It is unclear if the Bucks are done making moves, as they now have new players coming in who will immediately compete for or take roster spots from incumbent players.

The Bucks still have a few veteran players on the team who could draw interest from teams looking to compete for a playoff spot.

The Future Of Myles Turner

According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, there has been interest in center Myles Turner.

“Sources say that the Bucks have indeed received some trade interest in veteran center Myles Turner in the wake of the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster, but one league source asserted Friday night that Milwaukee is not actively engaged in moving him," the two wrote in the Stein Line newsletter.

Turner signed a four-year deal worth $108.8 million in the 2025 offseason as the Bucks looked to keep the roster competitive around Giannis Antetokounmpo after waiving and stretching the contract of Damian Lillard.

He is owed $26.5 million this upcoming season, $27.8 million next season, and has a player option worth $29.1 million in 2028-29.

In his first season with the Bucks, Turner averaged 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

His points and blocks averages were the lowest since his rookie season, and his rebounds average was the lowest of his career.

Should Myles Turner Be Traded?

There is no urgency to trade Turner, though the addition of Kel'el Ware, who could be a potential starting center, does put pressure on him to have a bounce-back season.

Turner is still under contract for at least two more seasons and his value is lower than it's been in years after this past season. After losing Giannis and Portis, and potentially trading Kyle Kuzma, the Bucks are short on veterans who can still contribute

Turner still provides spacing and rim protection, which makes life easier on Ryan Rollins and Tyler Herro.

The Bucks also have an incentive to stay as competitive as possible, as they don't control their draft future thanks to the Lillard trade.

Unless the Bucks get blown away by a trade offer than includes a first round pick, there is no reason to rush a Turner trade.
