Giannis Antetokounmpo's future has been the subject of debate since the beginning of this past season and there are still no clear answers.

While the Milwaukee Bucks' star has made it loud and clear that his desire is to play for a winning team, which the Bucks very much were not in 2025-26, whether that's been a desire that's strong enough to take him away from Milwaukee isn't fully known. 

Long-held rumors that he was forcing a trade away from Milwaukee in the middle of the season never materialized, with Antetokounmpo even touting the value of loyalty in the days after the deadline, he also hasn't fully affirmed that he's committed to Milwaukee in the long term either, only clearly stating that he wants to win somewhere.

Bucks ownership is clearly feeling the heat and it's even been reported that the team is now taking calls on possible trade packages for the franchise star, with owner Jimmy Haslam saying that the team wants a definitive answer on Antetokounmpo's future by the NBA Draft, which begins June 23. 

With all of these factors to consider, it would be easy to give in to the belief that this time, Antetokounmpo may truly be out with the Bucks and on his way elsewhere, a belief that will likely only intensify as the offseason goes on and more trade rumors trickle in.

But, the NBA world has already been burned once before for believing that Antetokounmpo would be gone at the deadline and to the people most intimately connected to Antetokounmpo's feelings about Milwaukee outside of his own family or representation, there's still belief that he'll remain a Buck.

The Athletic conducted a survey of NBA players from February to April asking 151 players where they believe Antetokounmpo will end up by the start of next season, and the answers are somewhat surprising.

Nearly half the players polled said that Antetokounmpo would stay in Milwaukee while the next likeliest candidate, with 23.2% of the vote, is the Miami Heat. 

The Heat certainly have a lot of young players to user as possible trade capital to land Antetokounmpo, but they don't exactly fit the profile of a surefire contender that matches the "win-now" desire that Antetokounmpo has been so adamant about.

The next team on that list is the New York Knicks with 16.6% of the vote, which does fit the profile of Antetokounmpo's title-contending dreams considering that they're in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season and were widely believed to be the best fit for him during the initial trade rumors.

Following those three contenders were, in descending order, the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors, though based on the votes each of those five teams warranted there isn't much belief in any of their chances. 

The Bucks emerging as the favorites in the players eyes is certainly surprising, but with the amount of public drama and rising tension between Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, even players can be proven wrong.
