A new rumor regarding the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.
The Milwaukee Bucks are likely to trade former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason after nearly a year of rumors.
Multiple teams are reportedly interested in the Greek superstar, with teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, and Miami Heat being named as potential destinations.
A potential darkhorse team is the Boston Celtics, who were upset in the first round of the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Boston entered the playoffs as the two-seed in the Eastern Conference, but blew a 3-1 series lead to the Sixers. The Celtics exceeded expectations this season, finishing second in the East despite missing Jayson Tatum for the majority of the season and trading veterans Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
Jaylen Brown had a big part in that.
Giannis To Boston?
ESPN insider Shams Charania said the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks had interest in Giannis at the NBA trade deadline.
He said that Minnesota and Miami were more engaging conversations, while the other teams checked in on things.
Boston could be a landing spot for Giannis after back-to-back seasons of playoff disappointments after winning the NBA Championship two seasons ago.
Last year, the Celtics lost in the second round to the Knicks. Tatum suffered an Achilles injury in the series, but the Celtics were down 2-1 already and on their way to being down 3-1 before Tatum's injury late in game four.
The Celtics could look to shake things up by making a major move for Giannis.
Should Milwaukee Accept Jaylen Brown?
If the Celtics are going to trade for Giannis, Jaylen Brown is likely to be involved. Though he made a push for the Most Valuable Player award, and won the Finals MVP two seasons ago, the Celtics have long been viewed as Tatum's team, and Brown didn't help himself after the playoffs when he aired his grievances over the referees and his treatment on stream.
Streaming aside, Brown is one of the top players in the league, and his play said as much this season. If the Bucks are looking to be competitive and not enter into a full-blown rebuild, they would be hard-pressed to find a player who is better than Brown in any potential deal.
If they are looking to tear things down and establish a new culture and a new identity, Brown probably isn't the guy they want because he's too good and will win them too many games.
