Among the many stories involved in the Milwaukee Bucks blockbuster trade with the Miami Heat for Giannis Antetokounmpo in return for a haul of young players, Tyler Herro's homecoming to Milwaukee might be the most compelling.

Herro is a Milwaukee native himself and now he has a chance to not only revitalize his own career after a season that was held back by injuries, but to try and revitalize the franchise that he grew up rooting for

The Bucks are certainly in a state of flux right now as they try to rebuild and create a new direction for team after their worst regular season finish of the decade.

For a team that for so long was one of the premier threats in the Eastern Conference, the Bucks have certainly fallen from grace and need to act quickly and aggressively to correct that course with their surge of fresh young talent, Herro included. 

For Herro, a fresh start is exactly what he needs.

He had a rocky exit from the Heat, not because of anything that overtly happened inside the locker room, but rather because of the altercation he got into his now-former teammate Bam Adebayo after messages leaked on social media of Herro disparaging the Miami big man. 

Being able to get that fresh start in his hometown franchise is a poetic next step for the young guard and one he is certainly looking forward to.

“I’m happy where I’m at now. If I literally had to pick another team in the league to play for, it would be Milwaukee. I’m super excited to be in Milwaukee. Fresh start for everyone — the organization, myself — and we’re really gonna hit it home," Herro said (via Eric Nehm of The Athletic). 

The transition is made a lot easier for Herro not only because Milwaukee is his hometown team, but because he’s able to make this change with so many of his other teammates, including Jaime Jaquez Jr. , Kel'el Ware and Kasparas Jakucionis.

This strong young core will certainly be relying on each other as they make this change to a new city and a new team and with the amount of work that lies ahead of them to try and revitalize the Bucks, being able to lean on each other will be incredibly valuable.

There’s a long road ahead and the season hasn’t even started yet, but with Herro being given the opportunity to become the hometown hero and bring himself back to the level of NBA stardom that he was fast approaching early on in his career, the Bucks and their new guard will certainly be an intriguing team to watch.

Even if success doesn't come right away, Herro is starting a crucial new chapter in his career and there's no place he'd rather be doing it.
