The Bucks are 5 years removed from their 2021 championship. Where are their starters now?
The Milwaukee Bucks reached the pinnacle of NBA success in 2021 as they captured their second NBA Championship in franchise history. Giannis Antetokounmpo was the driving force of the team's success, winning Finals MVP and was clearly the best player on the team.
Antetokounmpo solidified himself as one of the best players in the NBA throughout the 2021 postseason, and when he won his first championship, he was very emotional. Now in 2026, that same starting lineup that hoisted the Larry O'Brian trophy has since parted ways with the Bucks.
Where Are the Bucks Starters Now?
At point guard was Jrue Holiday, who at the time emerged as one of the best two-way guards in the NBA. Holiday made multiple plays on defense that led to offense throughout the postseason, including his famous alley-oop pass to Giannis in Game 5 of the Finals.
Kevin Jairaj-Imagn ImagesNow, Holiday is part of the Portland Trail Blazers serving as a veteran guard on a young squad. In 2025-2026, Holiday averaged 16.3 points per game, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists. Holiday only played in 53 games this past season, and started in 51 of them.
At shooting guard was Khris Middleton, a long-time forward for the Bucks who grew to be a fan favorite after being traded to the Bucks in 2013 from the Detriot Pistons. Middleton spent his years in Milwaukee being a valuable offensive player and an All-Star forward.
In the 2021 Finals, Khris Middleton averaged 24 points per game, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. Now in 2026, Middleton is with the Washington Wizards for a second stint with the franchise after a brief time with the Dallas Mavericks.
Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn ImagesAt small forward was P.J. Tucker. Tucker was valuable for the energy he brought defensively and he made himself even more useful with his spot-up shooting. During the 2021 Finals, Tucker averaged 4 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
Tucker was a very confrontational player and helped Milwaukee psychologically during this time. He has been out of the NBA since the 2024-2025 season after a stint with the Knicks, and retired from professional basketball in May.
At power forward was Giannis Antetokounmpo who played what many think was his most complete season in the NBA. Antetokounmpo looked unstoppable and was the clear leader of this group. He earned his lone Finals MVP award and scored 50 points as he clinched his first NBA title.
Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn ImagesIn 2026, Giannis is a member of the Miami Heat. Antetokounmpo asked for a trade from Milwaukee on January 2026 and his wish was completed in June. Giannis now has a chance to compete for a championship elsewhere.
At center was Brook Lopez and he was a ver valuable piece who played his role with the Bucks to the highest of his abilities. Lopez was able to stretch the floor out with his shooting and he was one of the better defensive big men in the NBA.
He is currently slated to be the starting center for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2026, and at 38 years old, those same skills that earned him the starting job are the ones that put him in position to win a championship five years ago.
