This offseason, the Milwaukee Bucks made a franchise-altering decision by trading away former face of the franchise, Giannis Antetokounmpo, to the Miami Heat. The Bucks got back multiple players from the Miami Heat, including Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. 

They also got back multiple draft picks and had an extra draft pick in the lottery this year, thanks to the Heat. In the 2026 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks selected guard Brayden Burries from Arizona with the 10th overall pick and forward Nate Ament from Tennessee with the 13th overall pick, thanks to the Heat.  

When looking at this roster, they're going into a season with many new faces, and both the players and front office recognize this as a new phase the franchise is entering. For Milwaukee, the goal is to find their next star and build around him. 

Considering the 2026-2027 season has yet to tip off, the answer to this question is almost impossible to determine. Still, there is one player on the Bucks' current roster who has the chance to assume the role of the franchise's next face. 

During the Summer League, rookie guard Brayden Burries showed flashes of being one of the next great young NBA guards and stood out among those who were drafted in similar positions to his. 

Burries had multiple 20-point games in the summer and showcased why his scoring ability is what drew attention from teams in the lottery. He also made good plays on the other end of the court as well. He has an ability to get steals against other guards and has a crafty style of defending. 

Overall, Brayden Burries has the capability of making plays that make coaches believe he's the best player on the court. Still, there's a chance that maybe he's not necessarily the next face of the franchise, but an important long-term piece. 

This next season for the Bucks is going to be very telling about the direction of the franchise. There is a chance their season doesn't go the way they would like it to, and they could end up with a top 3 pick in the lottery in 2027. 

Maybe 2027 could be their chance to truly find that next star that they can build around for the future. For as many young players Milwaukee has on their team, they also have a good amount of veteran pieces that could be flipped for assets as well.

It will be interesting to see how next season progresses for the Bucks considering where they're at as a roster right now.
