The C's superstar is declining to engage on more talk about his former teammate.

Over the weekend, former Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown continued to stoke the flames with regards to current C's star Jayson Tatum, saying that while he thinks Tatum is a great guy with a great family and that there's no "beef" between them, there's some "lamb chops and gravy."

Whatever exactly Brown meant by that is unclear, but it is clear that there's some unresolved feelings on Brown's end with regards to how he was traded from Boston this summer, and perhaps Tatum's role in it.

Does Brown think that Tatum pushed for the trade? Does he think he was asked about the trade and approved it? Does he think that Tatum should have advocated for Brown to not get traded?

No one really knows. Brown hasn't spoken about it since the weekend and Tatum made clear after Tuesday's overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets that he wasn't going to speak about it again, either.

Of course, as much as both players may want to avoid it moving forward, they really can't. The two will play each other four times this season, so there will be a build-up to each contest, the first of which comes on Nov. 10 in Philadelphia.

Tatum is right to just leave it be

At this point, Brown is the one who comes off looking petty and resentful. Tatum comes off looking like the bigger person.

From a public relations standpoint, that's the position you want to be in. And from a life standpoint, I think that's where Tatum wants to be as well. He shouldn't want to stoop down into the mud of this conversation. He'll have a chance to play Brown on the court four times, and maybe in the playoffs, and those battles will be all that anyone really needs.

About the win on Tuesday

Tied at 117-117 at the end of regulation, the Celtics ending up beating the Nets 125-124. Tatum scored a game-high 40 points, including hitting the game-winner at the buzzer. In addition to his 40 points, he had eight assists and no turnovers, becoming the only Celtics player in history not named Larry Bird to put up that statline.

As for what's next

The C's are now 3-1 and they'll be back in action on Friday night when they take on the Chicago Bulls in the first game of the NBA Cup, which is the NBA's in-season tournament.
