NBA 2K27 drops Sept. 4, and three Grizzlies got shortchanged. Prosper, Cam Spencer, and Scotty Pippen Jr. all have room to blow past their ratings.
NBA 2K27 is set to release Sept. 4, and with player ratings now available, multiple Memphis Grizzlies players enter the season positioned to outperform their in-game overall ratings.
Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, former guard Derrick Rose, and WNBA guard Caitlin Clark are the 2K feature covers for this year's game. The Grizzlies, who look to start a new chapter after moving on from Ja Morant in the offseason, will enter the season in a rebuild around Cameron Boozer, who was drafted No. 3 overall in this year's NBA Draft.
Memphis added depth in the 2026 NBA draft and the trade market. The team's overall rating in NBA 2K for the 2026-27 season is 80.
Here are three Grizzlies who can outperform their current 2K rating.
3. Olivier-Maxence Prosper
Olivier-Maxence Prosper is the first player on the Grizzlies who could improve his 2K rating because of his 3-point shooting, consistency, and possible new role. As of now, his overall rating is 78, with an 83 3-point shooting rating and an 85 dunk rating.
Prosper joined the Memphis Grizzlies in September 2025 after he was waived by the Mavericks. The Grizzlies picked up his $2.4 million option for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
In Dallas, the Memphis forward averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds while playing 10.0 minutes per game. The Grizzlies are hoping to see if he can provide the current roster with 3-point shooting and defense on the wing. During the Summer League circuit, he provided the team with consistency offensively and on the boards.
Last season in Memphis, Prosper averaged 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists while shooting 40.5% from 3-point range. This season's team will be rebuilding behind Boozer, who will receive his 2K rating once the season begins.
2. Cam Spencer
Cam Spencer is the second player who could improve his NBA 2K rating because of his sharpshooting abilities, which will allow him to cut backdoor or take his defenders off the dribble.
Spencer has the highest 3-point shooting rating on the Grizzlies roster for 2K. He is a 79 overall, with an 88 3-point shooting rating and a 55 dunk rating.
Spencer is entering his third season as a member of the Grizzlies, and his role could possibly expand with the team's depth at the frontcourt.
Zach Edey, Boozer, and Isaiah Stewart's games revolve around crashing the glass and posting up. Spencer will receive more opportunities to score because of his shooting prowess. He will be able to keep defenses honest, which will space the floor for the team as a whole.
1. Scotty Pippen Jr.
Scotty Pippen Jr. will have the best opportunity to improve his 2K rating this season because of the departure of Morant. Although it will be a while before the franchise reaches the playoffs again, he is a building block for the future.
Pippen Jr. is rated 77 overall with a 75 3-point rating and a 65 dunk rating. He will have a strong chance to improve his rating because he will have the ball in his hands a lot more and will have the green light to score.
The Grizzlies are in a rebuild, and Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo will have to try multiple lineups. Pippen Jr. averaged 11.4 points and 4.7 assists per game for Memphis last season, though two toe surgeries limited him to 10 appearances. With Morant and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope gone, he will be able to step into a new role.
