Miami Heat fans are debating whether Bam Adebayo and Kel'el Ware are at odds over social media behavior
The growth of social media has allowed athletes and fans to connect at an all-time high.
Fans have unlimited access to players based on how much they interact on Facebook, Instagram, X or Tik-Tok, etc. The downside is sometimes fans have too much information on their favorite superstars, causing them to make observations.
Recently, Heat fans questioned the strength of the relationship between Bam Adebayo and Kel'el Ware. An X posted revealed neither player follows each other on Instagram. That led to fans insinuating this was because of a post-season interview by Adebayo with teammate Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Jaquez asked Adebayo who he would trade on the team. After pausing to think about it, Adebayo said it would be Ware.
“Who would I trade?…Sorry big fella (Ware) you gotta go," Adebayo said. "I love you to death. You’re the youngest you got the most potential.”
It is unknown if there is any real beef between the players. This is probably a stretch because there are no rules about teammates having to follow each other on social media. It makes for interesting discussion, though, because of the Heat's current situation.
They are now in the market for acquiring Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer in free agency. Ware is among the players who the Heat could potentially trade. The others are Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic and Jaquez.
Still, it's highly doubtful Adebayo and Ware are feuding over this. It just seems like some fan-created "controversy" as they await the draft and the start of free agency.
In the past, Ware has repeatedly said Adebayo has been one of the biggest mentors since his career began.
HEAT IN LEAD FOR GIANNIS?
The Heat have a lottery pick in this month's NBA draft but all the attention is centered on the free agency period.
While the Heat could very well grab a solid player in the draft, they are focused on pursuing Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo during the summer. The two-time MVP has reportedly informed the Bucks he wants a change of scenery.
So why not Miami? That's what Heat team president Pat Riley, general manager Andy Elisburg and coach Erik Spoelstra are trying to accomplish. Recently, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst gave Heat fans a vote of confidence by saying Antetokounmpo wants to play in Miami.
“The team to watch here is Miami," Windhorst said during an appearance on First Take. "Miami would say ‘we got Tyler Herro who is a young player and been an All Star. We got draft picks including the 13th pick in this draft… And Giannis I think wants to be in Miami. There’s more check marks on Miami."
