The Orlando Magic provided things to be excited about while also causing concern over their four preseason games.

The Orlando Magic's preseason has come to a close, and there is a lot to take away from an exhibition slate in which they went 3-1. Let's dive into it:

Bumps and bruises are back

If there is anything the Magic need this season, it is health to be on their side.

Unfortunately, training camp and the offseason have already featured a lot of bumps and bruises already. Before training camp even began, guard Anthony Black suffered a minor ankle sprain during voluntary workouts that kept him sidelined throughout the preseason, and Noah Penda tweaked his hamstring.

In the Magic’s final preseason game against the Miami Heat on Friday, Franz Wagner exited with right shoulder soreness, Penda exited with hamstring tightness and guard Jase Richardson also exited with back soreness.

None of what these players are dealing with are catastrophic, but it warrants some concern and remains worth monitoring how things play out. Orlando cannot go as far as it plans too without relative health.

Offense is humming under Sweeney

When the Magic were being coached by Jamahl Mosley, the emphasis on offense was that it had to come from defense.

Mosley wanted the team to get out and run in transition after a stop, and while it is clear that Sweeney values the defensive aspects of the game as well, his offensive philosophy is more predicated on spacing and sharing the ball.

So far, it is working.

In two of the Magic's four preseason games, they exceeded 30 assists. It is a reflection of fluid ball movement and quality decision-making. Orlando's star players, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Desmond Bane, and Jalen Suggs, are still operating as focal points, but everyone is getting a chance, and they are making the most of their opportunities.

If the preseason is any indication of what can be expected, the Magic’s offense may end up looking the best it has in a long time.

Banchero has turned things around

In Orlando's first two preseason games, Banchero struggled mightily from a scoring standpoint as he only hit three of the first 17 shots he took. Then, he looked like the player fans are accustomed to seeing.

After scoring a game-high 24 points in a 132-116 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, Banchero replicated that performance against the Heat as he went 5-for-11 from the field and earned 16 free throw attempts, 13 of which he made.

Banchero put in a lot of work in the offseason to be the type of star he needs to be for the Magic to be successful. So far, he is looking the part.
